Physiotherapy Assistant
Band 3
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Therapy Team at Bowmere Hospital. The physiotherapy service covers the following areas: two acute admission wards for adults and older people experiencing mental illness, a ward for people with dementia, a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) and a high dependency mental health rehabilitation ward.
This is a permanent full time position (37.5 per week over 5 days Mon - Fri 8.30-4.30).
The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.
Planned shortlisting is on 28 November
Main duties of the job
The Physiotherapy service provides support for service users' physical health during their mental health impatient stay. The aim of physiotherapy is to help service users restore movement and function, when these have been afflicted by injury, illness or disability.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to support service users to participate in Physiotherapy assessments and interventions within our busy hospital setting. Examples of interventions include strengthening exercises, walking practice and stretches. You will be encouraged to work autonomously, with training and supervision from a senior Specialist Physiotherapist.
Working for our organisation
The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting people to improve their physical health whilst having an appreciation of how mental health can impact on an individual's physical health.
The postholder will be an excellent communicator and team worker, who is able to build rapport with people from all walks of life, and also be confident with documentation and liaising with multidisciplinary team members.
The postholder will be an integrated part of the Therapy team, which includes Occupational Therapists and a Speech and Language Therapist, as well as the wider ward team. We have a well-resourced Therapy department and a large gym. We support supervision and regular CPD opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience as a support worker or Therapy assistant interested in developing new skills within a Physiotherapy mental health setting.
