Job overview
Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week
We are looking to appoint 5 full-time porters. Applicants are asked to specify their preferred shift pattern within their application:
- 1 x Monday–Friday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm
- 1 x Monday–Friday: 07:30am – 3:30pm
- 2 x Multi-shift: 4 on, 4 off (6:00am – 6:00pm / 6:00pm – 6:00am)
Role Overview:
Porters provide vital support across all areas of the Trust, assisting healthcare professionals in delivering safe and effective patient care. Working under the direction of the Portering Chargehand, duties include transporting patients, specimens, beds, meal trolleys, medical gases, linen, and other essential equipment and supplies.
All staff are expected to demonstrate flexibility within their role to ensure the consistent delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.
Main duties of the job
As part of ongoing organisational developments within the Facilities Department, an exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit motivated and enthusiastic Porters to join our dedicated team.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Portering Chargehands and Assistant Facilities Manager, providing a high-quality portering service across the Trust. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
This is a physically demanding role, requiring the ability to lift, carry, and manoeuvre equipment, along with undertaking frequent walking and the safe transfer of patients throughout the Trust.
Applicants must be reliable, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality at all times, in line with Trust policies.
Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure all successful candidates are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills required to carry out all aspects of the role safely and effectively.
