The Data & Analytics team has a Senior Analytics Developer role available for the right person to come and join our friendly and hard-working team.

Who we're looking for
- A head for visualisation, numbers and technology
- A proactive problem solver with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Experience with some of our tech stack (Power BI, T-SQL, Excel, SSRS, Power Automate), or similar tools
- The ability (and desire) to proactively learn new skills
- Previous NHS or healthcare experience (beneficial but not required)
- The ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks across multiple ongoing projects with a focus on clear documentation and compliance with governance frameworks

Main duties of the job
What you will be doing

Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and SSRS to provide insight and support data-driven decision-making

Engage with stakeholders (including senior managers and clinicians) to gather requirements, communicate insights, and translate technical findings into actionable outcomes

Extract, transform and analyse data from a variety of sources to support operational and strategic initiatives

Investigate and respond to ad-hoc data queries, ensuring timely and accurate information delivery

Interpret national and local guidance to develop and maintain appropriate datasets, dataflows, and reporting processes

Work collaboratively with the wider Data & Analytics team, sharing expertise and supporting continuous improvement

Understand and document business processes and workflows to inform data solutions

Apply data governance principles and follow established change management procedures to maintain data quality, consistency, and security
Working for our organisation
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
- The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
- Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.

- Educated to degree level in Digital & Data related subject or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Significant & extensive experience in field of work
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate level of education in a digital service/mathematical discipline
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of manipulating large and complex data sets.
- Substantial experience of querying databases using SQL and appraising the queries of others
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience of managing staff in a technical team providing a customer focused service
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS performance management systems and processes (e.g. statutory returns).
- Established knowledge of NHS data flows and definitions.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques.
- Project Management experience through the full life-cycle of major Informatics Projects
