Non Executive Director

Non Executive Director

Job overview

We are seeking to appoint two exceptional candidates to become Non-Executive Directors, to support us in our vision to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.

This is a great opportunity to bring your experience and insight to a forward-thinking NHS organisation that is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

You will join a strong and high-performing Board, comprised of individuals with a wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experience, to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of our communities and workforce.

We value diversity and so we are keen to ensure our Board represents the populations it serves and that we maintain a good balance of views, skills and experience in the Board.  Equality of opportunity is a fundamental principle and applications are therefore encouraged from candidates of all backgrounds.  If you have a commitment and passion for the NHS and want to contribute to a Trust that is ambitious, inclusive and rooted in its community, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for collaborative and strategic candidates to provide support, oversight, governance and leadership, who can bring insights in the fields of workforce, digital, finance or clinical healthcare services. One of the roles will include chairing our Performance & Finance Committee.

Working for our organisation

Rated ‘good’ by the CQC, MCHFT provides hospital and community services to the people of Cheshire and beyond across three core sites - Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford – and five care communities. We are well led, with our vision, culture and values embedded across the organisation. We employ around 6,000 people, making us one of the main employers in the Crewe area.

We take a proactive role within the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care System and work closely with local place-based partners in Cheshire West and Cheshire East. We have ambitious plans for our estate, digital transformation and corporate services that will help deliver step changes in our clinical model. We believe, and it is the cornerstone of our Trust Strategy, we can progress and provide innovative, responsive and integrated care in the best setting for the patient, be it at home, in the community or in hospital – a direction of travel that aligns closely with the key themes of the NHS Ten Year Health Plan.

We are a pathfinder in the national New Hospital Programme for the ‘Hospital 2.0’ blueprint, with a new Leighton Health and Care Neighbourhood set to open in 2032. This is driving significant digital transformation with a major step being the launch of our new Electronic Patient Record earlier this year, developed in partnership with East Cheshire NHS Trust.
