Job overview

Leighton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individuals who can work effectively both as part of a team and independently, using their own initiative.

You will join our existing Security Team in the busy and demanding environment of Leighton Hospital. Based in our purpose-built Control Room, your primary responsibilities will include monitoring the hospital’s extensive CCTV and alarm systems, operating radio communication systems, maintaining accurate records of incidents and liaising with other departments and external services.

The role will also involve providing security support and covering shifts at Victoria Infirmary (VIN), including assisting with the opening and closing of the site, managing the control room and ensuring security operations run safely and effectively across both hospital sites. Flexibility, a proactive approach and the ability to respond appropriately to a variety of situations are essential to this role.

Main duties of the job

Manage, operate and oversee all systems within the control room environment, including:

  • Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.

  • Recording media.

  • Access control systems.

  • Alarm systems.

  • Telephone and messaging systems.

  • Computer systems.

  • Fault logging systems.

Ensure strict compliance with all Trust policies, procedures and relevant legislation governing the operation of CCTV, control room systems and the handling of associated information.

Record and document all incidents reported to the control room, taking prompt and appropriate action to address incidents and escalate matters where necessary.

Monitor the movement of cash collections on-site using CCTV systems, including the delivery of cash to the Trust’s ATM.

Provide security support and control room cover at Victoria Infirmary (VIN), ensuring the effective operation of security systems and communications across the site.

Undertake site opening and closing duties at VIN, ensuring that buildings and designated areas are opened and secured in accordance with Trust procedures.

Manage and monitor the VIN control room, responding to alarms, CCTV observations, access requests and security incidents, and coordinating an appropriate response with security colleagues and relevant departments.

Maintain accurate records of incidents, security activity, site opening and closing procedures, and any faults identified with security equipment or systems at both hospital sites.
