We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Mental health nurse,  Social worker or Occupational therapist  to join our specialist team in working with patients experiencing first episode psychosis.

We are dynamic & highly specialist team, working with a specific client group, where there is an opportunity to significantly impact on an individuals well-being and functioning and long-term clinical outcomes. 

The role involves specialist assessment & treatment of patients presenting with symptoms of psychosis.

You would join an expanding multi disciplinary team of Nurses, Social workers, Occupational therapists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Clinical support workers. There is an existing wide range of experience and skills within the team and we are passionate about supporting and training our staff to develop their skills.

We will provided training in Family Intervention, Structured Clinical Management, Safeguarding Supervision, Complex Needs Management etc. as standard.

You would manage a small case load, with regular supervision and risk discussions.

The team would welcome Male and female applications.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to collaboratively plan an individuals care needs and assess risk factors and implement interventions in line with the access and wait time standards; that improve outcomes for the individual and their families. 

You will be offered a meaningful and thorough induction period, including shadowing established team members and regular supervision. The appointed applicant should be willing to engage in continuing professional development opportunities.

Excellent communication, report writing and assessment skills are essential for this post. We are looking for highly skilled and competent practitioners, who are motivated and committed to delivering quality and evidence based care and willing to develop and initiate recovery focused sessions either 1:1 or in groups. As part of the role there will be opportunities to participate in a wide variety of groups. Applicants should have sound working knowledge of the current spectrum of mental health disorders and the Mental Health Act.

You will be an integral member of the team helping to shape and deliver the service for the future.

Applicants should have post registration clinical experience and be able to demonstrate the appropriate skills needed to provide an outstanding service. We are looking for individuals who are flexible and conscientious team members.

Access to transport for work purposes is essential.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised qualification in mental health care – RMN or OT
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further professional development involving serious mental illness.
  • Training in PSI at an introductory level
  • Experience of working in a community MDT

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Commitment to own continuous professional development
  • Knowledge of need for early intervention services from a national and clinical perspective
  • Demonstrate an understanding of an assertive outreach approach to care
Desirable criteria
  • Information management and technology skills
  • ECDL qualification

Experience

  • Experience of working in a MDT
