Job overview

This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.

Clinical audit is a quality improvement tool used within NHS organisations to demonstrate quality and safety and to benchmark local improvement within local services against national standards. The role of the Clinical Effectiveness Facilitator is to support the operational Directorates to monitor their service areas clinical audit activity as defined by the annual audit programme, ensuring compliance with Clinical Audit Policy and procedures. To support and work with the service area audit leads to facilitate the development of clinical audit activities in line with the Clinical Audit Strategy. Provide support and advice to staff on the implementation of audit governance and promote evidence-based practice to improve patient care.

Main duties of the job

Quality check and monitor service area clinical audit activity as defined by the annual audit programme, ensuring compliance with Clinical Audit Policy and procedures.

To assist clinicians in the production of the local annual clinical audit programme in line with local, regional and national requirements.

To support the collection of evidence as required for National Confidential Enquiries in Patient Outcomes and Death (NCEPOD).

To assist in the co-ordination of audits as required.

To produce reports for presentation to demonstrate robust governance implementation and provide assurance.

Support the implementation of systems in audit to evaluate service standards and measure benefits. 

To administrate of the Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Sub-committee and provide relevant information to assist in the production of clinical audit reports.

To support in the completion of writing audit summaries of findings to enable clinicians to develop recommendations and action plans.

Support the various specialties in completing NICE guidance baseline assessments and quality standards checklists.

Maintain a central database for GIRFT reports and monitor the completion of action plans developed from GIRFT audit findings.

Contribute to local procedure and policy development as necessary.

  • Degree level qualification Certificate in clinical audit

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent Knowledge of a range of IT software packages, including Word, Excel and powerpoint
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NICE Guidance requirements and National audit requirements

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Communication Skills – Ability to overcome barriers to understanding, Working to deadlines. Team player, Report writing, General keyboard and IT skills
  • Ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly
  • Ability to organise own workload with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of the NHS national drivers and quality improvement programmes
