Job overview
**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**
Our busy Critical Care Unit is located in the famous silk town of Macclesfield which is situated within the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Peak District National Park in Cheshire, and within easy reach of Manchester, Liverpool and Staffordshire. The Unit is based in our 280 bedded District General Hospital.
This post is in the Urgent Care Division within critical care, which incorporates a combined unit; consisting of 5 beds and flexibly used beds, Outreach, Follow-up, and After Care Clinic Services.
We are looking for a rotational Critical Care Nurse with senior critical care extensive experience, to join our service, to ensure a high standard of patient focused care is delivered within this clinical area.
As part of the Critical Care Outreach team you will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of the outreach service covering all wards within East Cheshire NHS Trust.
Hours per week: 37.5 hours (part time considered for the right candidate) Rotational Shift Pattern.
Main duties of the job
Please be advised we are unable to provide Skilled Worker Visa Sponsorship to non-UK residents.
You will provide clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and intervention of the sick adult, providing education and support to the ward nurse, medical teams and the therapies.
You will demonstrate autonomy and have clear decision-making skills.
You will assist in the dissemination of the National Early Warning Score2 across the Trust to all multi-professional staff.
You will contribute to the maintenance of the Outreach database providing reports as needed for clinical audit in line with the Safety and Quality Standards.
The post holder will also lead and contribute to the development of trust-wide integrated care pathways, clinical guidelines, protocols and policies and contribute to the development of the Acute Life Threatening Recognition and Treatment Course. The Post holder may also rotate onto Intensive Care in order to maintain critical care skills.
As a Critical Care Outreach Nurse you will have or be working towards a Master’s Degree, have the ability to practice autonomously and work effectively within a varied multidisciplinary team. The possession of excellent interpersonal skills is explicit as well as a robust clinical background within the acute critical care milieu. Experience of working in a senior nurse role is essential. An induction package tailor made to the individual requirements and service needs would be provided on commencement.

Professional Qualifications / Experience
Essential criteria
- NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) 1 st Level Registration
- Basic Degree – Nursing/clinical
- Post registration qualification relevant to Critical Care.
- Significant experience in Critical care nursing.
- Relevant leadership experience at band 6 or above
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Teaching and assessing, Mentorship course
- Current Advanced Life Support provider
Desirable criteria
- Working towards or possess MSc (Master of Science) Clinical Nursing/Equivalent

- Perform advanced clinical skills to the critically ill e.g. Cannulation, venepuncture, Arterial sampling, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomy management, extubation and laryngeal mask insertion.
