Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Medical Engineering Team at Macclesfield District General Hospital as a Specialist Medical Engineering Technician. 

The successful candidate will possess a professional electronics qualification and will have specialist medical equipment training and experience. You will present a calm, professional approach and be competent to work as an autonomous practitioner within a team. Excellent verbal, written and IT skills are essential. 

Hours per week: 37.5.

Main duties of the job

A Specialist Medical Engineering Technician will be a self-motivated member of a small team, providing a comprehensive medical equipment maintenance service within their own specialised field. 

To be expected to independently plan, schedule and implement, in liaison with the Medical Engineering Technical Manager, colleagues and clinical users, the planned maintenance and repair of specialised medical equipment.

To be responsible for performing the planned-maintenance, non-routine repairs and decontamination of a wide range of medical equipment used in direct patient treatment.
