We are situated in the heart of the Cheshire countryside within easy access to most motorways and the city centre of Manchester.

We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and dedicated Band 5 Midwives to join our award-winning Maternity services at East Cheshire NHS Trust within our "Teams and Wards" service. We are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable Midwives who have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills, who can work well as part of the multi-disciplinary team and can work under pressure in a variety of roles. 

You will become a valued member of an innovative team and will help us to excel further to deliver our Trust objectives and values.

We are currently welcoming applications newly qualified midwives and student midwives due to qualify in September 2026. We have a mixed of substantive and fixed term contracts, with varying hours.

Hours per week: 37.50

Main duties of the job

As part of the East Cheshire Midwifery services you will be expected to provide high standards of clinical care throughout the pregnancy continuum and fulfil the role of an active member of the midwifery team.

We are very open and keen for innovative ideas and new ways of working to provide flexibility for our staff and the best experience for our women and families. Within this role you are required to participate in the on-call rota as required in the provision of the 24-hour service.

We are not currently accepting applications from overseas trained Midwives who do not currently have NMC registration.

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care across the maternity continuum
  • Sound clinical decision making and escalation skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, consent, risk management and NMC Code (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
  • Competent in using digital clinical systems and documentation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to personalised, evidence based, inclusive care
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of maternity transformation programmes and national maternity strategy

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife (NMC) (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
  • Degree or equivalent in Midwifery
Desirable criteria
  • Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) course

Specific Job Requirement

Essential criteria
  • Able to work flexibly across shifts, including nights, weekends and oncall
  • Physically able to support birthing people and undertake clinical duties across multiple environments
  • Meets driving requirements
