Job overview
Applications are invited from highly motivated and dynamic Junior Doctors to apply for the post of Junior Clinical Fellow (JCF) in our Paediatrics Department. This post will be ST1/2 level dependent upon your previous experience.

The basic salary for this role is outlined above based on a 40 hour working week. In addition, there will be enhancements for additional rostered hours (over 40), night rate hours and weekend working allowance in line with the relevant Nodal Point under the new Junior Doctor Contract 2016 pay scales. The value of the enhancement for the role can be provided upon request, however, this is subject to any future rota changes in line with service need.

Main duties of the job
The post will offer candidates the opportunity to gain new skills or consolidate existing knowledge in this specialty. You will also be afforded training opportunities as outlined later in this document, however please note that JCF posts are not recognised for formal training.
There is the potential for the right candidate to be supported to attend related skills courses as appropriate. All successful candidates will be offered both ILS and ALS training fully funded by the Trust to augment their competence portfolio.
Working hours will be 40 hours per week. The successful applicant will work a full shift pattern covering nights and weekends. The basic salary for this role is outlined above based on a 40 hour working week. Working for our organisation
NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. For new starters not already working to UK Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service will be appointed to the minimum paypoint. The starting salary paypoint can only be increased when there is evidence of relevant, completed year’s experience in terms of nature, type and level of role. The evidence required to increase a starting salary would be Payslips and details noted in the application form i.e. complete employment history

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Good background in training at Foundation / House Officer level
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Acute care safe: up-to-date ALS (Advanced Life Support)
- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
- Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
- Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job.
- Experience of working at night, and out of hours.
