We are looking for someone dynamic and highly motivated to lead and develop the pharmacy service provided to the Acute Care directorate. The Acute Care directorate includes the following exciting and fast paced specialities: respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology and general medicine.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we have recently expanded our clinical pharmacy provision and implementing digital technologies including electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems from Summer 2025.

If you are interested in the role and believe you hold the qualities that we require, then apply today!

Hours per week: 37.5

Please note although this job has been advertised as full-time, we are open to applicants considering part-time hours.

Please be advised we are unable to provide Skilled Worker Visa Sponsorship to non-UK residents.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the jobs are summarised below:

·         Lead our pharmacy service within Acute Care providing expert pharmaceutical advice.

·         Lead a team of pharmacists and support the wider clinical services team in the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care. This includes working with specialist nurses within our IBD and hepatitis clinics to help manage high-cost drugs and homecare queries.

·         Support the review and update of prescribing guidelines and procedures to ensure safe, effective and evidenced based medicine is being practiced throughout Acute Care.

·         Build service and own competences, being either leadership, managerial or clinical skills.

·         Develop your existing role as an independent prescriber or working towards this goal.

·         This is a motivating time in the region with the implementation of Integrated Care Systems, therefore the post holder will need to provide a vital link with our relevant partner organisations, consultant teams and regional networks.

·         Support our junior pharmacists on the Band 6-7 progression programme through education and mentoring.

Applicants should have strong leadership and time management skills with significant clinical experience. Applicants should hold a non-medical prescribing qualification or be willing to work towards this.
