Job overview

To assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to customers and patients of East Cheshire NHS Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and effective production service. 

Hours per week: 30

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this varied job are:

  • Picking and processing customer orders and assembling for courier delivery. 
  • Managing stocks of finished products and ensuring appropriate storage. 
  • Receiving pharmaceutical deliveries and entering onto quality control record sheet. 
  • Setting up batches, including label production and patient information leaflets. 
  • Packing and labelling batches of pharmaceutical products. 
  • Always ensuring compliance with MHRA good manufacturing practice.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent qualification) including maths and English at level 4/5 (C) or above.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and uses own initiative.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of hospital pharmacy practice and role of a licensed manufacturing unit within the hospital environment

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in an environment where attention to detail and accurate completion of documentation are required.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in a hospital pharmacy and /or manufacturing/distribution facility.
  • Pharmacy production unit experience.
  • Experience of working in an MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) regulated environment.
