Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join ECT on a fixed term basis to work as an FCP. This will involved clinical work within Primary Care, orthopaedic clinics and leadership of the FCP's and MSK Outpatient Department. Depending on experience, we can consider this post as band 7 or 8a.  

This is a fixed term post for 12 months, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

To work as an advanced clinical practitioner specialising in Musculoskeletal conditions across MSK outpatients / Orthopaedics / and GP practices as a First contact Practitioner

The post holder will work in an integrated way with the primary care teams within specified Primary care network, delivering first contact Physiotherapy.  The role will require working closely within the primary care team and the orthopaedic team to develop strong links and pathways within the services.

The role will also involve providing clinical supervision to Band 7 First Contact Practitioners employed by East Cheshire NHS Trust, working within the primary care and taking the lead to promote, influence and improve MSK pathways through the delivery of FCP roles across the primary care networks

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Hold current HCPC professional registration
  • First Level degree or relevant qualifications
  • MSc Advanced Practice or can demonstrate working at Level 7 [within the ACP framework] capability in MSK related areas of practice or equivalent (such as advanced assessment diagnosis and treatment)
  • IRMER training
  • Substantial experience working in MSK.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates attributes of a clinical expert in terms of specialist theoretical and practical knowledge/ expertise in advanced clinical reasoning and the range of work procedures within the MSK speciality
  • Advanced knowledge of the pathology MSK conditions within MSK outpatients / Orthopaedics / and GP practice settings
  • Evidence of expert professional/clinical knowledge managing MSK conditions
  • Clear and demonstrable evidence of advanced, autonomous practice in the management of patients / service users
  • Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance and how it applies to role
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment and safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Knowledge of infection control
  • Knowledge of major incident response
  • Professional awareness and knowledge of the National agenda/developments and innovations in Advanced clinical practice and specialist area

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of extensive experience and transferable skills within an advanced practice role within a related setting
  • Completed portfolio of supervised practice in advanced clinical practice.
  • Multidisciplinary education development and delivery.
  • Experience of conducting audit/research
  • Previous experience of managing change and project management
  • Proven experience of working as an independent practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience and transferable skills within an advanced practice role within a relevant setting
