Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

The Practice Development Nurse Associate (PDNA) plays a vital role in supporting the professional growth and clinical development of Healthcare Assistants (HCA’s) and nursing staff while enhancing the overall quality of patient care. By promoting evidence-based practice, facilitating continuous learning, and contributing to service improvement initiatives, the PDNA ensures high standards of nursing practice across multidisciplinary teams.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting clinical education in both classroom-based and practice settings across hospital and community environments. Working under the management and direction of the Practice Development Nurse Team and the Professional Practice Team, the post holder will contribute to the delivery and facilitation of high-quality educational initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.

A key focus of the role will be supporting the implementation of foundational training for Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs), including facilitating the achievement of Healthcare Assistant (HCA) competencies. The post holder will also be involved in delivering education and training on a range of clinical skills — including the safe use of medical devices and other essential procedures — to multidisciplinary staff groups, within the boundaries of their scope of competence, in both acute and community care settings.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nursing Associate
  • GCSE Maths & English or level 2 functional skills

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • A sound understanding of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Demonstratable clinical experience in relevant clinical role/area
  • Core Clinical Competency Skills
  • Knowledge of NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a variety of clinical settings

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to coach/teach/ engage with staff to support clinical skill acquisition and CPD
  • Ability to support the development and delivery of presentations and teaching sessions
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • An approachable manner and able to provide evidence-based feedback
