Job overview
**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

The Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner course is a Three-year education program, working towards becoming a registered Operating Department Practitioner with a BSc Hons degree. The course combines work-based and academic learning between ECNT and The University of Staffordshire.
As an Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) you will be based, as a paid employee, in ECNT. Whilst you will be allocated to one specific area, you will experience working across both internal placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas’ healthcare services.
You will be required to achieve the standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), HEI and the Institute of Apprenticeships and on completion of the Three-year program to register as an Operating Department Practitioner.
Applications are welcomed by those aged 18 years or over (and working within ECNT).
The Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner is a paid member of staff, working within the Trust, you will be allocated set time to attend academic study and placements.

Main duties of the job
Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse/ Operating Department Practitioner (or other registered care professional) with a focus on promoting patient health and independence.
Successfully complete and pass the academic elements of the programme as specified by East Cheshire NHS Trust (ECNT), HEI and Institute of Apprenticeship standards. You will also be required to complete an apprentice portfolio that demonstrates learning and skills and complete an end point assessment.
Successfully complete the Operating Department Practitioner competencies related to HCPC standards as specified by the Trust and the University.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 112 UCAS points or above from A levels or equivalent qualifications such as BTEC Nationals
- Level 3 Apprenticeship Higher Technical
- Qualifications (HTQ’S) New or existing Level 4 or 5 qualifications (such as HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Certificate HE or Diploma HE)
- Math's and English GCSE
- All qualifications will be assessed on an individual basis
