Job overview

This post is in the Medical Records Department and the post holder will be responsible for the retrieval, maintenance and preparation of patient case notes for Outpatients, Elective Admissions and Emergency Admissions.  Retrieval of case notes from Medical Records Libraries and other departments/wards & clinics within the Trust, to record the movement of the case notes on the Trust’s EPR system, Lorenzo and to file case notes returned to the Medical Records Libraries.

Main duties of the job

The Medical Records Department provides a quality assurance function in support of scanned documents, this will mean verifying the authenticity of the scanned copy by undertaking Quality Assurance reviews of paper medical record documentation against QA criteria to ensure that scanned documentation meets the required standards.

The Medical Records Department is situated across all three Trust sites and operates between the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clerical/administration experience. Awareness of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Caldicott Principles
  • Physically fit and have the ability to maneuverer heavy loads, climb ladders and kick stools
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Medical Records

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills with all levels of staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using PAS and other patient/hospital related computerised systems

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English & Maths Grade C/4 and or above.

  • NVQ in business Administration
