Job overview

Applications are invited for the above post within the Point of care section within Biochemistry. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our hard working and friendly team. 

The new post holder needs to be highly motivated to learn and develop skills in point of care testing and must have the interpersonal skills to carry out training of all grades of staff outside the Laboratory to fulfil the role effectively.

The post holder must be prepared to work across all sites the point of care department serves.

Main duties of the job

To provide training and troubleshooting support for users of point of care devices across Warrington and Halton Hospitals.

To distribute and undertake testing of External quality assurance (EQA) samples.

To submit EQA results to the schemes via the IT systems provided

To monitor product usage across the devices

Manage and distribute stock across the Trust

Liaise with manufacturers in the event of device issues

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·         Deliver training to maintain and troubleshoot all existing POCT devices across all sites of the Trust, to both groups and single learners of all grades of staff

·         Be able to perform tasks using the POCT software management systems and  utilise the Microsoft Office Suite of programs to facilitate the day to day running of the POCT service (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel)

·         Answer queries via telephone and in person to assist Trust personnel in POCT matters

·         Work without direct supervision including travelling to all sites within the Trust as required

·         Represent the Pathology Department with regard to POCT matters in a professional and approachable manner.
