Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Radiology Department. 

We are looking for an ‘amazing’ Radiology Appointments Officer to work within a team of dedicated staff within the Radiology Department. 

The successful candidate will need to always provide high level customer service and possess excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are an essential part of this role. 

She/he will be expected to cover Reception duties, be responsible for providing a

central service for the scheduling of all Radiology appointments by ensuring compliance with IR(MR)R, RCR guidelines, Trust, and Department guidelines/protocols. Communicating with patients, consultants and staff at all levels and possesses the ability to empathise with patients and relatives regarding procedures and appointments. 

The successful candidate must be computer literate, have clerical experience and possess numeracy and literacy skills.

Main duties of the job

To maintain a comprehensive radiological examination appointment system for the Directorate by ensuring all appointment requests are accurately input onto the x-ray system in a timely manner, in line with Trust & Government Guidelines.
 
To undertake a comprehensive search of systems to cross reference patient examinations to ensure no duplicate requests are inputted and ensure patient demographic data is accurate.
 
Where appropriate, to ensure requests are verified by x-ray Consultants and Principal Radiographers prior to appointing and providing printouts of previous reports to facilitate this process.
 
Act as necessary to ensure patient DNAs are recorded and dealt with in line with Trust protocols.  
 
To assist in modifying examination preparation sheets as and when necessary.
 
To encompass and utilise new technologies as and when they become operational.
 
In line with Government, Trust and Directorate Guidelines, undertake statistical analysis which encompasses capacity and demand, waiting lists and other statistical requirements.

  • Varied Clerical & Customer Care experience

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths & English
  • Demonstrable working experience equivalent to NVQ III
  • ECDL or working towards
  • RSA II (Typing) or equivalent experience
