Job overview

The role of a Healthcare Assistant within ward A4 , is to provide care for both males and females from the age of 18. We are a 33 bedded ward. We are an acute surgical ward, caring for patients requiring surgical care, including colorectal, urology, ENT, breast and UGI.

Main duties of the job

You will be working within a highly skilled nursing team within ward A4. You will be supporting patients that require emergency surgery, conservative surgical management,  with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, nutrition, toileting and pressure area care. You will be part of the team which supports patients in recovering and supporting them daily back to their baseline ready for discharge.

To assist the nursing team in planning, implementation, and evaluation of holistic patient care.

To care for and assist patients as required. 
To work collaboratively and cooperatively with others in the team to meet the needs of the patients and their families. 
Participate in the development of self and others.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working at NVQ 2 level within a clinical healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with in patients or surgical areas

Qualifications

  • Educated to GSCE level or equivalent
  • NVQ 2 (healthcare)

  • Evidence of working at NVQ 3 level (healthcare)
