Job overview

Main duties of the job
To carry out acceptance testing, electrical safety testing, planned maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of medical equipment, most of which will be complex and, at times, patient connected.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Medical Engineering Department offers a vital technical service that includes all aspects of medical equipment management, which ranges from installation, maintenance, and disposal. The postholder is required to carry out acceptance testing, electrical safety testing, planned maintenance and repairs on equipment maintained by the Medical Engineering department. The postholder may be required to work without supervision on their own initiative following departmental procedures and acting within their level of knowledge and experience.

Essential criteria
- Experience in the field of medical equipment / electronic equipment maintenance.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of using engineering tools and test equipment
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree / qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge, in engineering or science.
Desirable criteria
- Aware of electrical safety testing techniques and standards.
Role Specific
Essential criteria
- • Experience of using IT equipment and software including Microsoft Office to produce reports.
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of working within a quality management system e.g., ISO 9001, 13485
