Job overview

Its an exciting time at WHH as we continue to drive forward our continuity of carer project in line with Better Births and further develop our service as WHH Maternity works towards outstanding.

As part of this we have a number of opportunities for midwives to join our fabulous teams working across Warrington and Halton within the hospital and community settings caring for families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for Band 5 midwives who can demonstrate excellence, kindness and compassion and are passionate about providing gold standard care to the families who choose to birth with us.

The successful candidate will have a degree in midwifery or be working towards this qualification. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required as will the ability to demonstrate a passion for both low risk birth and for person-centred care. You will work across Warrington's continuity maternity team, supported with our preceptorship package.

The maternity team at Warrington are a friendly, welcoming team with a passion for positive change. In 2021 the team were shortlisted for an HSJ Patient Safety Award and more recently were nominated for the regional Nursing and Midwifery Award at the 2022 NHS Parliamentary Awards. In 2024 CQC have rated our maternity service as 'Good' and as a a team, Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust prides itself on training and development opportunities which will be offered to the successful candidate based on their needs and chosen future career pathway.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife (or due to complete a UK pre-registration midwifery programme and obtain NMC registration within 3 months)
Desirable criteria
  • NIPE
  • Complementary Therapies
  • Hypnobirthing practitioner

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates the ability to practice as a Band 5 Midwife
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of caseloading/continuity of care model
  • Experience of initiatives which develop the service

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Demonstrates effective listening and communication skills.
  • Must be able to practice in all areas.

  • Experience of delivering Parent Education
