Job overview
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a full-time Resident Neonatal Consultant Paediatrician with subspecialty interest in CYP diabetes and allergy (10 PAs per week). This is a DGH general substantive paediatric consultant job requiring UK Neonatal Unit level experience (Local Neonatal Unit or Tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the current consultant team to provide general paediatric and neonatal services for the children and young people of Warrington and Halton. This consultant post is a hybrid role covering resident neonatal middle grade cover. The postholder will need to have a subspeciality interest in paediatric diabetes to support the CYP diabetes service. An additional special interest such as allergy is welcome. Applicants must have full registration with the GMC, hold MRCPCH or MRCP (Paediatrics) and are on or within six months of entry onto the Specialist Register. They must have suitable qualifications and experience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee, the CBU Manager and Clinical Director, with final agreement by the Deputy Medical Director.

Attainments
Essential criteria
- Full registration with General Medical Council
- Inclusion on the specialist register for general paediatrics / admission to register within six months.
- MRCPCH or MRCP (Paediatrics) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- A higher qualification e.g. MSc, MD , DNB
Training
Essential criteria
- Satisfactory completion of CCT training or equivalent
- CESR in general paediatrics and neonatology as recognised by the RCPCH.
- Experience and training in child protection (Level 3)
- Up to date APLS, NLS and child protection training
- 6 months of UK Paediatric Diabetes/Endocrine service experience
Desirable criteria
- SPIN in diabetes
- Tertiary or secondary level experience in allergy
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Practical experience in the management of general paediatrics including child protection and neonatal medicine.
- Appropriate competencies and skills in Paediatric diabetes and allergy
- Minimum 6 months experience working in neonatal unit at a UK Tertiary Hospital
Desirable criteria
- A research interest in area of special expertise.
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Evidence of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and commitment to these within the Trust
Desirable criteria
- Attendance at courses in teaching, appraisal and mentorship.
Audit
Essential criteria
- Understanding of audit. Evidence of audit undertaken during general and higher professional training.
Management
Essential criteria
- Understanding of current NHS management systems including clinical governance and risk management.
- Attendance at management meetings e.g. Department of Child Health

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
