Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a full-time Consultant position with interest and expertise in obstetric scanning. We welcome candidates across the full spectrum of experience to join the team of 13 consultants sharing responsibility of the provision of comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynaecology services with a recent Maternity CQC rating of 'Good' (2023).

Warrington Hospital is home to our emergency, critical care and maternity services, Halton Hospital is focused on elective procedures and the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, although many services are offered at both sites and in community hubs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The key clinical activities to be undertaken within this role are:
· Elective day case theatre session
· Labour ward / on call cover
· Gynaecology Clinic
· Antenatal clinic
· Elective caesarean section list
On-Call: The post is 1 in 11 on the consultant non-resident on-call rota, with an expectation to be available within 30 minutes of being called to attend. This includes the consultant being resident for evening cover and ward rounds during weekend on calls. No other activities are timetabled during on call.

- Able to run a labour ward and on call acute gynaecology independently

- Experience of clinical governance
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC
Desirable criteria
- RCOG ATSM/SSMS
- Advanced labour ward
- Fetal Medicine
- Hysteroscopy
- Obstetric Medicine
- Obstetric scanning
SKills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Committed to ongoing CPD and ensuring practice remains up to date
- Demonstrate an understanding of the process of structured training, assessment, and appraisal
- Experience of supervising junior medical staff
- Able to run a labour ward and on call acute gynaecology independently
- Show an ability to conduct audit of excellent quality
- Demonstrate an understanding of research within the NHS
- Demonstrate an ability for self-reflective learning
- IT skills to use Trust EPR systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience of undertaking and publishing research
- Leadership or Medical education experience/courses
- Training the trainers or equivalent courses
- Educational supervision of medical students
- Involvement with undergraduate examinations
