Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Switchboard team provides a vital service to staff, patients and their relatives and provides a professional customer service 24/7 365 days a year. In house training will be provided to deal with all aspects of Switchboard duties. The post holder will form part of the Switchboard team, working various shifts to cover a busy hospital switchboard. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for operating the hospital switchboard answering all incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and efficient manner. Responsible to be involved in all associated procedures within the Switchboard environment, responding to all emergency calls and alarms whilst remaining calm, concise, and polite under pressure. The post holder will be required to perform in an environment where the work pattern is unpredictable and to demonstrate flexibility with their availability.

Switchboard or call centre trained

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of working on a switchboard as a receptionist or call centre trained
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with the public

Good IT and Customer Care skills

Essential criteria
  • Good IT skills with ability to use Microsoft applications
Desirable criteria
  • Excellent customer care skills

Flexibility to work as part of a team and autonomously with lone working

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations with or without direct supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Willingness and flexibility to cover for colleagues during annual leave and sickness
