Job overview

Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a  Consultant Surgeon position specialising in Trauma & Orthopaedics Lower Limb. The successful candidate will provide both elective and trauma on-call services at our Warrington and Halton sites. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dedicated team, contributing to high standards of patient care and supporting our teaching and research activities. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and listed on the Specialist Register and completed a recognised lower limb fellowship.

1.     Clinics, 1 x Fracture Clinic, 2 x Elective

2.     3 Operating theatre lists 

3.     Participation in Governance and Audit

4.     Contribution to the teaching of trainees.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a full time Consultant Surgeon specialising in Trauma & Orthopaedics to provide both elective (lower limb arthroplasty) and trauma on call.

 

The candidate appointed will work on both the Warrington and Halton hospital sites for both theatres and outpatient clinics.

 

Applicants are required to be a Registered Medical Practitioner, MBChB or equivalent, to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and listed on the Specialist Register.

Essential criteria
  • • Clinical experience in managing trauma and elective lower limb surgeries
  • • Recognized lower limb fellowship.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Hold CCT or equivalent at time of interview and be included on the specialist register
  • •Current ATLS provider status or equivalent

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to perform lower limb arthroplasty and general trauma surgery without direct supervision
  • • Ability to participate fully in the on call trauma rota
