Job overview
The Rapid Response Team are looking to recruit a band 3 therapy assistant! The senior therapy assistant’s role is to support qualified therapists in providing assessment and discharge planning for patient in the Emergency Department and admittance wards at Warrington Hospitals. Tasks may include supporting assessments in a busy Emergency Department, speaking with patients and family members about preadmission levels of function, managing equipment provision for the team and reviewing patients mobility in preparation for a timely discharge. Therapy assistants interact with other professional team members of the Emergency Department and wards as well as patients and their families, this means our ideal candidate must be confident, enjoy working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and be able to demonstrate a desire to actively participate in all aspects of this role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team and supporting patients to return home in a safe and timely manner from the hospital. Essential skills such as good verbal and written language as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required. Alongside supporting patients in clinical areas, the job will entail some none clinical management of the teams equipment store and administration tasks. Experience of working / caring for patients in an inpatient setting would be of benefit as the role is primarily patient focused. The service hours of Rapid Response are 08:00 until 19:00 over 7 days. The successful candidate will be required every other weekend.

The Rapid Response Team are based at Warrington Hospital, Lovely Lane, Warrington WA5 1QG. Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to providing and enjoyable and thriving place to work and learn. The therapy community within the hospital is close knit and supportive. Both hospital sites are easily accessible by both public and private transport and offers a bus link for staff between sites. Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE's Grade C or above or equivalent (Including Maths and English)
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in related area
- Additional course in complimentary field
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Has an understanding of Physiotherapy
- Has an understanding of Occupational Therapy
- Has a basic understanding of inpatient care in a hospital
- Has a basic understanding of the discharge process from hospital
- Has understanding of good communication
- Has an understanding of the communication barriers patients in hospital can have
Desirable criteria
- Has some basic knowledge of medical conditions
Experience
Essential criteria
- Has worked in a caring role
- Has experience of using computers
- Has experience working within a team
- Has experience of communication with multiple different types of people
Desirable criteria
- Has worked in an inpatient setting
- Has experience of the therapy process either OT or Physiotherapy
