Job overview
WHH Pharmacy has recently undergone exciting departmental developments, including a repurposed dispensary, a new automated dispensing system and digital ordering for nursing staff. With your help we are looking to build on this, and further improve our pharmacy service.
The Pharmacy department provides comprehensive services to both Warrington and Halton Hospitals as well as the Captain Sir Thomas Moore Building, delivering integrated patient -focused services over 7 days a week and with a vision to shape a dynamic future

Main duties of the job
- Receipt and correct storage of drugs
- Stock control, stock rotation, stock checks and removal of expired stock according to Trust policy
- Supply of drugs including ward stock replenishment, inputting of orders onto computer system and assembly of orders from location or pharmacy robot in accordance to documentation.
- Contributing to the management of a safe system for the supply of emergency drug boxes.
- Receiving and processing telephone calls
- Delivery of stock to wards.
- Supervising, providing guidance and direction to the Pharmacy Assistants .
- Accurately dispense prescriptions, for inpatients, discharge patients and outpatients, including named patient drugs, cytotoxic drugs, unlicensed drugs, controlled drugs, and compliance packs.
- To support the clinical team on the wards in the medication reconciliation process, including requesting Patients Own Medication be brought into hospital on admission, ensuring critical medicines are present on the ward and ensuring only medication prescribed to individual patients are present in their bedside locker helping to reduce medication wastage and provide a speedy discharge process.
- Assist in the reception area with receipt of prescriptions from clients and patients in accordance to department policies.
- Identify and order medicines that are “to-follow” and liaise with Senior Pharmacy Technician Team.
