Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Oncology

Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Oncology (Systemic anti-cancer therapy) specialising in upper GI and lung cancer
x2 37.5 hours per week
Band 7 (progressing to 8a on completion of training)
Applications are invited from experienced nursing, pharmacy and allied health professionals who would like to develop their career in an exciting direction to train as Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy.
These posts are part of an expansion of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner Grade in Oncology in Teesside and North Yorkshire. The posts will be based at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, but will support the “hub and spoke” network of oncology services in neighbouring Trusts.

The roles will develop to deliver independent clinical assessment and treatment of patients, working closely with the Consultant Oncologist, specialising in either upper GI or lung cancer, monitoring systemic treatment (cytotoxic chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other directed treatment), assessing and treating complications of that treatment and also the cancer itself.
Our focus is to continually improve patients’ experiences and outcomes and you will be supported by a friendly, committed multi-disciplinary team of staff striving to ensure the delivery of excellence in all aspects of patient care. We are a forward thinking department and support all staff in their clinical development to advanced practitioner level.
Applicants will be expected to have post registration experience and will be expected to enrole on an appropriate MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (degree apprenticeship) or hold an equivalent at MSc level.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
