Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player to provide reception duties/clerical support within the community outpatient physiotherapy service.

To be effective in this role you must be able to work as part of a team, have an excellent telephone manner and be capable of sustaining a high level of client service.

Previous experience in a busy office/reception environment is beneficial. We require a flexible and organized person, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, to join the team and assist in the smooth running of the service.

Good communication skills are necessary and the post holder would need to have good organisational skills and be competent in typing.  Knowledge of SystmOne would be desirable.

The Friary has a small and friendly team of physiotherapists providing Physiotherapy services on an out-patient basis.  You will be supported in your role by the administrative team based at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. 

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake general receptionist duties, assist in the provision of an efficient, user friendly outpatient appointment service and provide clerical, administrative and information technology support to the Community Outpatient Physiotherapy Department.
  • To assist in the management of outpatient waiting lists and clinics, recording information and making appointments
  • To meet and greet patients and other visitors, directing them to the appropriate area within the department or hospital.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • To have achieved a basic level of education.
  • Proven keyboard skills with an RSA II word processing or typewriting qualifications or equivalent qualification/experience.
Desirable criteria
  • To hold an NVQ II in Customer Care desirable

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures and software programmes

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant secretarial/administrative experience
  • Experience of using electronic spreadsheets, databases, PowerPoint and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using a computerised appointments system
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting and basic knowledge of the NHS
