Job overview

Applications are invited for an Interventional Radiologist with comprehensive general radiology training and specialist expertise in vascular imaging and vascular intervention. In addition to delivering high‑quality diagnostic services related to vascular imaging, the post holder will support the broader workload of the department, as agreed through job planning. This will include general radiology, participation in the on‑call rota, and involvement in teaching radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other healthcare professionals.

For this post, vascular and non-vascular interventional skills are desirable, although purely non-vascular interventional radiologists may be considered. Applicants who have a specialist interest in oncological interventional radiology (vascular and non-vascular) would also be welcomed. This post would be able to provide the opportunity to build up a regional service in North Wales, thereby enabling patients undergoing ablative and chemo-embolisation procedures locally rather than travelling to tertiary centres in England.

The post holder will be primarily based at Ysbyty Gwynedd and will join an enthusiastic multi‑disciplinary team providing established IR services across the North Wales region.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality diagnostic imaging services with an emphasis on vascular imaging and vascular intervention.
  • Undertake a range of general radiology work as required through agreed job planning.
  • Perform vascular and non vascular interventional procedures.
  • Support development of a regional interventional oncology service, enabling delivery of ablative and chemo embolisation treatments in North Wales.
  • Participate in the radiology on call rota.
  • Access overnight outsourcing and home teleradiology support.
  • Teach and supervise radiology trainees, undergraduate medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to management of clinical risk, including monitoring and reviewing clinical incidents.
  • Participate fully in audit, quality assurance, and clinical governance activities.
  • Adhere to Health Board policies, procedures, and values.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with information governance requirements.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment and promote a positive culture.
  • Respect equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work
