Job overview

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and psychologically minded Support Time and Recovery (STR) worker to join our Community Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway across Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Plymouth.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist multi-agency service supporting individuals who present with complex emotional and relational needs, offending histories, and high levels of social exclusion. The pathway is designed to improve psychological wellbeing, reduce offending, strengthen community integration, and support progression toward safer and more meaningful lives.

As an STR worker, you will play a vital role in helping service users engage with psychologically informed interventions, community resources, and practical recovery-focused goals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with psychologists, occupational therapists, probation colleagues and third-sector partners to provide consistent, relational, and practical support to individuals accessing the OPD Pathway.

The post holder will work alongside the OPD team to facilitate our weekly ‘Voyage IIRMS Social Hubs’ across Plymouth and Cornwall.

You will support service users to:

  • ·       Build trust and sustain engagement with services
  • ·       Develop daily living, emotional regulation and social functioning skills
  • ·       Access education, training, employment and meaningful occupation
  • ·       Improve community integration and reduce isolation
  • ·       Attend appointments, groups and pathway interventions
  • ·       Develop and work toward recovery and risk management goals
  • ·       Navigate healthcare, housing, benefits and community systems
  • ·       Strengthen motivation and identify personal strengths

The role involves a balance of direct 1:1 support, community-based work, group facilitation, and liaison with partner agencies.

Working for our organisation

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
