Job overview

To provide general day to day administrative support for various key functions within the Team including the consultant practitioner, team lead and clinical staff covering the county wide Community Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation Team. The post holder will support staff by managing their time, allowing staff to focus on the priorities of their role.

The post holder will be required to prioritise their day to day work, use initiative without direct supervision for routine tasks. This will require good organisational skills and the ability to cope with working to tight deadlines with potential frequent interruptions.

Main duties of the job

To act as first point of contact for health professionals, referrers from other departments and partner agencies, patients and patients' relatives and carers, being effective and efficient when handling telephone calls, relaying messages and dealing with staff and the public promptly and courteously

To support with registering and managing service referrals, waiting list management, organisation of patient appointments and supporting staff members with clinical administrative duties.

To support consultant practitioner, team lead and staff members with service administration, service development, HR activities, rostering, and equipment/resource ordering and maintenance.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health.  We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Education and qualification

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 qualification in administration or equivalent level of experience
  • Good basic education, demonstrating high level of literacy and numeracy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Administration experience within a busy office environment
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining admin databases and filing systems
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
