Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to join our team at St Mary's Hospital. You will be expected to support the integrated community team. The working pattern could include some weekend working.
The role will include the management of referrals from entry into the team through to discharge and interacting with patients, carers and other health and social care professionals. Also, inputting data using a range of patient and staff electronic systems on the Ward, in Outpatients and the Minor Injury Unit.
Support to the team will include supporting staff to manage appointments, inputting onto rosters, monitoring and maintaining registers and databases and ordering of stock and equipment. There is an element of patient-facing contact.
We are looking for an individual who will support service development projects.
Essential skills and knowledge required for this role include the ability to prioritise and complete tasks to urgent deadlines and to be highly skilled across the range of Microsoft packages.
The successful applicant will be articulate and have a keen eye for detail. Ability to maintain patient and staff confidentiality is an essential aspect of this role.
An Island Living Allowance of 5% of the salary is payable to the successful candidate resident on the island. Single person accommodation may be available.

Main duties of the job
- Managing referrals to the team via electronic systems and clinical record keeping systems
- Arranging meetings, preparing agendas, note-taking and distributing papers
- Support clinical staff by liaising with patients, gathering information for clinical staff from MDT and using electronic systems to ensure safe and effective communication
- Act as first point of contact for telephone and face to face enquiries by patients, their relatives and carers, health and social care professionals, referrers and the general public
- Photocopying various documentation
- Answer telephone, deal with enquiries, direct as appropriate, take accurate messages and forward to relevant person/department
- Sorting of incoming mail and distributing to addressed department/individual
