Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Parkinson’s team. The successful post holder will assist with providing a specialist community nursing service to people with Parkinson’s disease within Cornwall and will be part of our exciting service improvement project initiatives. The post holder will assist with patient caseload management, acting as a resource for service users/providers and promoting effective communication between all health professionals and the voluntary sector. The main area of  work will be North & East Cornwall, with the work base to be confirmed.

Experience of caring for people with Parkinson’s disease within an elderly care, inpatient or community setting would be essential for this post along with proven teaching skills.

The ability to travel independently across the county is essential for this post.

This is a part time post working 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

To assist with providing a specialist nursing service to people with Parkinson’s disease within the community setting.  This post will involve reviewing people face to face or virtually via Attend Anywhere or telephone with support from the specialist Nurse service over Cornwall. Acting as an educational resource for service users/providers & promoting effective communication between all health professionals and the voluntary sector are also key components to the role.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health.  We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Education/Qualifications and Relevant Experience

Essential criteria
  • Level 1 Registration
  • Minimum 2 years post registration (RN)
  • Desire to work towards a degree qualification
  • Employed within an elderly care/neurology/community setting caring for people with Parkinson’s Disease
Desirable criteria
  • Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Module
  • Degree Qualification
