RCHT Internal / NHS Cornwall & IOS Only - This vacancy is only open to current employees of The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and NHS Cornwall & Isles of Scilley.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Surgical Occupational Therapy department at RCHT! This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) Band 7 post, covering maternity leave for a period of 9 months. Part time working will also be considered. Main duties of the job
Provide and lead a high standard Surgical Occupational Therapy service to patients at RCHT.
Provide advanced clinical specialist assessment, treatment, goal setting with vascular patients following surgical interventions with complex presentations , to include pathway management and developments
Develop the Surgical Occupational Therapy service provision for surgical patients, research and implement innovative ways of working, including prehabilitation – applying evidence-based practice and guidelines to support safe and effective practise.
Continue to develop highly specialist skills through training and CPD to support patient assessment, intervention and outcomes, and to upskill and support the Surgical therapy team.
Undertake line management duties for the team, general management of team across bandings, early stages of disciplinary and capability with support of HR and Therapy Manager, health and safety of team/therapy environments, ensuring team clinical supervision, coordination and first level authorisation of annual leave and study leave, recruitment responsibility.
Attend clinical level discussions/meetings related to your area of work.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post graduate education and development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive experience in an acute hospital setting, including a range of post qualification rotations at Band 5 and Band 6 level
- Experience of working within a range of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, including evidence of collaboration with other organizations
Skills
Essential criteria
- Up to date clinical skills and specialist level assessment skills
- Able to work in highly stressful situations including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully
- Experience in treating surgical patients
