Job overview
This exciting opportunity is offered initially as a 12‑month fixed term pilot arising from a service improvement initiative, with ongoing funding secured following successful evaluation of this new role.
The SACT Coordinator will be responsible for co-ordinating the provision of a high standard of administrative support across the scheduling team and ensuring a highly professional, patient-focused service to the Headland Unit, Lowen Ward and any other site delivering anti-cancer therapy.
This post, along with the SACT Schedulers, will ensure that SACT and other anti-cancer treatments are booked according to locally approved protocols. This will include line management of the schedulers and reception team within the Headland Unit.
This role has been approved for advertising; however, it is also being assessed as a suitable alternative employment opportunity. As a result, the vacancy may be withdrawn or there may be a delay before shortlisting can begin.

Main duties of the job
The SACT Navigator will work closely with the nursing teams primarily in the Headland Unit and Lowen Ward, receptionists in Clinical Oncology and Clinical Haematology, as well as the consultants and other admin staff.
The post will be based in the Headland Unit.
The post-holder will work with the management team in developing and improving all aspects of the service, including identifying, meeting and maintaining quality targets for the cancer pathway.The SACT Navigator will work with and coordinate the schedulers and other relevant teams to ensure patients are scheduled for treatment within the Cancer Waiting Time Targets and will be responsible for the back office coordination of booking SACT and other anti-cancer treatments including booking PICCs and other interventions, ensuring the flow through the Headland Unit, Lowen Ward and other sites are maximised.
