Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust Aural Care Service are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated person to join us as a Specialist Nurse.

The Aural Care Service is a proactive team which forms part of the ENT department. We are always improving to ensure that the care we provide is evidence based, safe and best practice. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the drive to develop specialist otology knowledge and skills to support the delivery of brilliant care. Our service is self-sufficient so the willingness to engage in service development is essential.

This is a fabulous development opportunity for an experienced nurse. The role commences at a Band 5, moving to a Band 6 on successful completion of the role specific training and commencement of fully independent clinics.

Main duties of the job

The best candidate will be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and in conjunction with the consultant or responsible primary care clinician, and the post holder will develop specialist skills and knowledge to:

Provide a service to Aural Care department patients, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and support from the time of accessing the service.

Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Aural Care patients and assigned nurse-led services.

Work as a team with all those involved with the management of Aural Care and otology patients within the trust, and across the wider health care sector.

Act as an expert clinical role model for the Trust.

Provide support and information to people with outer ear conditions and their families and carers.

Ensure active participation in continuing education and training as required for revalidation nursing registration.

Participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.

Attend meetings as appropriate.

Fulfil duties as per clinical requirement.
