Senior Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

We are seeking to recruit individuals to join our existing team of Band 6 nurses in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is a vital component of the Trust. This post is aimed at maintaining our strong leadership team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. We strive to deliver high quality care to our patients, 24 hours a day.

The Senior Team is committed to providing high quality care for all of the patients and developing and leading  all nurses in the Emergency Department.  If you like to be busy, are enthusiastic and keen to develop and learn, enjoy a good team atmosphere and enjoy the challenge of working in ED we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

To work as a leader of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic patient centred care.

Ability to promote patient centred care and establish good relationships with patients and carers.

To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.

To be able to take charge of the department in the absence of senior staff.

To act as a lead nurse in an emergency or Trauma in Resus. 

The role will include weekdays, weekends, days, nights and bank holidays. Full local induction and competency-based training is in place.

  • Registered Nurse / NMC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification
  • ATLS (observer) course or other recognised trauma course. ILS, ALS, PALS.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantive experience in the speciality
  • Experience of supervising and assessing students
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in the relevant specialty
  • Previous ward management experience
