Main duties of the job
To work as part of a team providing Engineering Management duties. To lead and manage the staff within the Mechanical section.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It serves a population of around 470,000 people, a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. RCHT is responsible for the provision of services at three main sites with approximately 780 inpatient beds:

St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 mechanical qualification (or UK-recognised equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- ILM / CMI Level 3 (or willingness to work toward)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Mechanical or plumbing maintenance experience in an operational environment
- Experience of PPM, fault-finding and minor mechanical works.
- Experience supervising, coordinating or leading maintenance teams in an operational environment
- Experience planning, allocating and coordinating reactive and PPM workloads
Desirable criteria
- NHS Estates experience
- Experience supervising or line managing mechanical or plumbing trade staff.
PRACTICAL AND INTELLECTUAL SKILLS (INCLUDING ANY SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE)
Essential criteria
- Ability to understand mechanical and plumbing work scopes sufficient to supervise safe and effective delivery
- • Routine IT competence, including Microsoft Office 365, to support work allocation, communication and record keeping
Desirable criteria
- • Experience mentoring apprentices or providing practical guidance to less experienced staff
