Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Endometriosis Department for the post of a Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse to join the Endometriosis service working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Although this is a band 7 role we are happy to offer a band 6 development position to the right candidate
The post provides excellent scope for the suitable candidate to continue to develop the nurse-led initiatives continuing innovative working practice.
Main duties of the job
To lead on the development of an advanced / expert nurse specialist service for women referred to The Cornwall Endometriosis Centre and will be responsible for a caseload covering patients from the South West Region.
The individual will be an autonomous nurse practitioner and have the ability to manage complex clinical situations.
Provide guidance, supervision, education and teaching of peers, junior members of staff and primary care professionals.
They will be able to work autonomously in the assessment, performance and reporting of ultrasound investigations.
Plan and implement treatment plans for the patient pathway and arrange discharge and follow up care as necessary.
They will be actively involved in monitoring and raising the profile of the Service across the South West to ensure patients receive sustainable high quality care that is safe and effective.
They will take a lead role in audit of the service, producing reports and figures for the quarterly audit to provide evidence and assurance of the quality of the endometriosis service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse with valid NMC Registration. Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- gynaecological ultrasound
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience. Good level of experience in obstetrics or gynaecology
Desirable criteria
- Previous practice in an independent / autonomous role. Ability to perform vaginal examinations. Teaching / lecturing internal / external venues.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
