A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated nurse to join our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team as a Teenage and Young adult CNS (TYA Clinical Nurse Specialist). We welcome applications from nurses who are passionate about improving the experience and outcomes of teenagers and young adults living with cancer.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is a designated TYA cancer hospital within the South West network, working in partnership with the Principal Treatment Centre at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Our service provides specialist malignant haematology and oncology care, alongside emotional, social and practical support. This post includes 7.5 hours of LARF funding for 2 years.

Main duties of the job
As the TYA CNS, you will play a central role in supporting young people diagnosed with cancer across Cornwall and the wider region. You will:
Work autonomously, using advanced clinical judgement to identify and respond to the unique needs of TYA patients and their networkers
Collaborate closely with the TYA Lead Clinician, consultants, site‑specific teams, Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nurses and colleagues at the Bristol PTC
Build strong relationships with the five other designated TYA hospitals across the South West network
Contribute to the delivery and development of high‑quality, age‑appropriate cancer services.

Senior nursing experience and a strong understanding of TYA cancers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work sensitively with young people and their families

A passion for improving cancer care for young people

- NMC registration
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Non-medical Prescribing or Commitment to Undertake if required for the service
- Experience of working independently/managing a service or team
Desirable criteria
- Teaching/assessment/mentoring qualification
- Proven experience of working within multiple services
- Educated to Masters Level or Equivalent
- Advanced communications course
