Research Nurse (Oncology)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research & Development Department to join us as a Research Nurse.
A central part of the role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research monitoring and care to patients who have consented to participate in research and that the research/clinical teams you work with are appropriately trained, supported and developed within their professional/research roles. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.
Within this post you will develop processes and systems for maximising the recruitment of patients to academic and commercial studies and will ensure that research patients/participants are monitored, supported and receive the highest level of research nursing care. You will work across a range of studies including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions, in a range of specialty areas across the research portfolio and there will be an expectation to cover colleagues as and when required.
This post will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to significantly develop their research/clinical skills and knowledge base.

You will work across a range of research studies including investigational medication studies, observational research and clinical interventions as well as supporting and managing patients care within the Research Department.
Well-developed skills and experience in acute areas with an interest in developing your career in this specialised area will be an advantage, however, no research experience is necessary.
Under the direction of the Lead Consultants, Registrars, Research Doctors and Senior Research Nurses, you will participate in the recruitment and follow up of patients to research studies attending Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust You will be responsible for undertaking study related procedures (as appropriate) whilst adhering to the protocol. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning and on-going care and safety of research participants and will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, referring patients for specialist care as needed. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. The post holder will be required to work autonomously with supervision and guidance of the Senior Research Nurses .
