The Pharmacy Procurement Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital are excited to be recruiting a Specialist Assistant Technical Officer in Procurement and Homecare. This is a key role in our departmental strategy to focus on safe and effective procurement of medicines and delivery of homecare services. This is an exciting development opportunity for the right person who will have a Level 3 qualification in Pharmacy Services, CIPS or equivalent experience and significant experience in pharmacy purchasing. The post is a development post moving from band 3 to band 4 on completion of training with upgrade criteria detailed in the job description.
Main duties of the job
Manage and supervise the Pharmacy procurement and homecare band 3 team on a day-to-day basis, as well as aspects of HR and Recruitment (including staff appraisal, sickness absence management, capability and disciplinary procedures)
Responsible for the correct and timely processing of Pharmacy invoicing, managing credits and dealing with finance issues arising with Pharmacy suppliers.
Responsible for the effective day-to-day receipt of incoming pharmaceutical products arriving direct from suppliers or from the Bulk Fluid Store in accordance to standing operating procedures (SOPs).
Responsible for the day-to-day running of the pharmacy procurement aspects of homecare services, including liaising with patients through the patient helpline.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- CIPS level 3 or working towards
- GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- Pharmacy services NVQ level 2 or equivalent
- GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience involving the supply and/or purchase of medicines
- Significant experience gained from on-the-job training to level 2 equivalent
- Proficient in either procurement or homecare areas of pharmacy purchasing
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising staff
- Significant experience gained from on-the-job training to level 2 equivalent
- Experience of training staff
- Proficient in both homecare and purchasing areas of pharmacy purchasing
Practical and intellectual skill
Essential criteria
- Numerate with excellent Interpersonal skills
- Negotiating skills
- Able to interpret financial information concerning contract offers, evaluate and present options
Desirable criteria
- Experience using Microsoft office Excel
- Experienced with Powergate or similar ecommerce platform.
