Job overview
The Pharmacy Technical Services Department have a vacancy for a Band 3 Transport Driver/Stores Assistant to work within our unit. Supporting our specialist facility you will assist in the delivery of medicines of both a hazardous and non-hazardous nature and a variety of pharmaceutical products, documents and other materials around the Royal Cornwall Hospital site and occasionally off site so a full, valid manual driving license is essential. This role will also involve supporting the Senior Stores Lead/Driver in all aspects of stock control and the opportunity to become involved in supporting our specialist facility where you will assist in the preparation of injectable medicines of both a hazardous and non-hazardous nature.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Senior Stores Lead/Driver provide support for the delivery of medicines which will include hazardous products such as cancer chemotherapy agents or radioactive materials and less hazardous products such as nutrition and aseptic medicines. These medicines must be transported safely, securely and in a timely fashion and where necessary in line with transport regulations.
Ensuring a high degree of attention to detail to assist in the receipting of goods and materials delivered to Technical Services and support appropriate stock control and document management ensuring compliance with departmental and national standards
Ensure delivered goods are stored in authorised locations and appropriately rotated
Ensure that the delivery vehicle is cleaned and that maintenance activities are carried out.
Assist in the monitoring and maintenance and cleanliness of storage areas
Meet tight deadlines associated with the delivery of medicines liaising with senior colleagues in prioritising and managing workflows.
The successful applicant will also be expected to become a validated dispenser for the manufacture of a range of sterile injectable medicines which will include hazardous products such as cancer chemotherapy agents or radioactive materials, and less hazardous products such as nutrition and aseptic medicines and support the associated cleaning and environmental monitoring duties.
