The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Research and Development department supports and facilitates health research in Cornwall. Research is a hugely important part of what we do at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals. It gives us new knowledge about how to treat and care for patients with different health conditions and helps us to provide our patients with the best and most appropriate care possible.

We are dedicated to developing ground-breaking treatments, technologies, and techniques as well as meeting your needs and identifying the best use of resources.

It is an exciting time to be working in research in Cornwall, with the development of our Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC), we are growing rapidly.

The Research and Development Study Set Up Team are looking for a Senior Studies Set Up Officer to join their team on a fixed term contract for 12 months. This is to support the existing team and help grow the portfolio of research studies opening within Cornwall.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive, organisational support to the R&D Contracts Manager and R&D Senior Management team and take responsibility for commercial and non-commercial research studies going through the capacity and capability review system.

The Senior Studies Set Up Officer will also support the R&D Contracts Manager in ensuring complex finances are negotiated and agreed, and that trial information has been uploaded to the RADICO web portal for all commercial studies to enable prompt reimbursement of all study costs.

We employ approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £740 million.

RCHT is responsible for the provision of services at three main sites with approximately 780 inpatient beds:

Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro

St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle

West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance

We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.

Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we are continually developing our clinical services as well as our facilities, and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally. Allied to this is a growing reputation for research and innovation.

The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.
