Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine with a special interest in lung cancer, to undertake training at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
This is a Trust Doctor post. No previous experience in respiratory medicine or oncology is required but NTN or CCT holders in respiratory medicine are also welcome to apply.
The successful applicant will undertake clinical work to improve their knowledge and skills in respiratory medicine, specifically lung cancer management.
The main body of work will be assessing patients in suspected lung cancer clinics and involvement in the lung multi-disciplinary team meeting. We would also encourage the development of bronchoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) skills in addition to other diagnostic skills such as pleural aspiration, intrapleural catheter insertion and neck ultrasound.
There is no on call or out of hours commitments, although there are often opportunities for locum shifts in acute medicine if desired

- Develop diagnostic skills in bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural aspiration and neck ultrasound
- Supervised delivery of virtual clinics for lung cancer referrals and nodule patients and interface with lung health check programme
- Active participation in lung MDT
- Opportunity to attend oncology clinics

- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Agreement of PG Dean or Head of School or Chair STC for OOPT if applicable
Desirable criteria
- Intercalated BSc, BA, MSc
- PhD, MD (original research)
- MRCP, MRCGP
- Respiratory SCE

Experience

- Demonstrates interest in respiratory medicine
