Job overview

We have an exciting role on offer for an enthusiastic person to join our friendly and supportive Dietetic team at Furness General Hospital, Barrow in Furness. The post will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful post holder to develop knowledge and experience in a busy district general hospital. 

 

This post would be suited to an enthusiastic and well motivated person looking to develop their interest in nutrition and healthcare along with their interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.  

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the dietetic team in providing a service to inpatients and outpatients with direct patient contact in both settings. In addition, the post holder will support the dietetic team with general administrative duties and the day to day running of the department.  

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English or equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or 3 in health and social care

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of an interest in Nutrition
  • Evidence of an interest in Health Care
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in health care
  • Experience of working with the public
