Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of women, and their families who have complex social needs?

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust are looking to recruit a highly motivated Midwife to join our welcoming, supportive and friendly Enhanced Support Midwifery team working in the Barrow in Furness area.

You  will manage, develop and lead care for pregnant and new mothers with vulnerabilities across the organisation, developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and their families. The post holder will act as a referral point He/she will be responsible for providing specialist support in order to optimise maternal and fetal outcomes.

You will work in partnership with a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team from midwifery, health and social care to provide and co-ordinate the highest standards of care for women and their families with complex social issues.

You will support colleagues through coordinating care; providing training and guidance in safeguarding for key maternity staff, to enable them to provide holistic care that optimises vulnerabilities as well as physical health.

Main duties of the job

-You will support an established specialist enhanced support team on a daily basis caring for women and their families with complex social issues.

-You will be rostered within the team to carry out the daily safety huddle and duty responsibilities.

- Have a sound based knowledge of working families with complex social issues.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
