Job overview
Ward Clerk - Intensive Care Unit, CIC ( 36 hours, to cover Secondment)
We are looking for a competent and professional Ward Clerk for the Intensive Care Unit at CIC.
As a Ward Clerk you will act as the focal point for the department, maintaining confidentiality at all times. You will provide a high standard of administration support to the Ward Manager, medical staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with other departments, patients and visitors. You will assist with the flow of patient relatives and visitors to the department.
Main duties of the job
Undertake general clerical duties in the clinical area including completing records, filing, photocopying/scanning, handling mail and filing in case notes.
Provide an accurate account of bed management e.g. admissions, transfers and discharges.
Answer the telephone, relaying any relevant messages when required.
Book in elective patients for ITU/HDU beds.
